Before we begin, I want to clarify that Season 1 here in this review/title is meant by Season 1 according to the Netflix edition. On Netflix, Naruto is divided into 9 Seasons with Season 1 containing Episodes 1-26. Now, let’s begin.

Overview:

Naruto is a Japanese anime series based on the manga of the same name by Masashi Kishimoto. The story is about a boy named Naruto Uzumaki, who is a young ninja and dreams of becoming a Hokage- the leader of the village.

I was never the one to be into anime because they didn’t look as appealing to me. A lot of my peers and friends recommended me to watch them because I love comics. Anyway, I never watched any series on their recommendation but recently I started watching Naruto because my Pinterest suggested a list of top-rated anime and Naruto was one of them. Guess I trust my Pinterest recommendation more than people!

Things I Liked About Naruto Season 1 (Episodes 1-26):

It’s a good series with a good mix of action, comedy, goofiness and thrill. It covers up all of my favorite genres so I very much liked it. If I start being specific about things then I’d start with the first episode. I liked how the story begins with the history of the village and Naruto’s childhood slowly building and reaching the present life of Naruto. I like how each character was introduced and how each character has distinct special powers/abilities.

Zabuza Momochi Wields Kunai
Zabuza Momochi Wields "Kunai" In His Mouth To Fight Ninja Mob In Episode 19: The Demon In The Snow

My favorite part of the season has to be the fight sequence on the bridge in Episode 19: The Demon in the Snow, where Zabuza Momochi fights the mob of ninjas with a “Kunai” in his mouth. It was a very well-choreographed action sequence and I am sure it took great skill, work and planning to animate the sequence so kudos to the creators of the series.

Kakashi Sensei
Kakashi Hatake, Teacher Of Team 7, Character In Naruto By Masashi Kishimoto

As far as my favorite character is concerned it has to be Kakashi Sensei. I mean anyone who has already watched Naruto will agree with me that he is one of the coolest characters in the series. His whole aura is dashing. His special power, his "Sharingan" is pretty impressive. Although Sasuke Uchiha also has the power of Sharingan I still think Kakashi’s looks much cooler and more intriguing. In the last episode of the season (Episode 26- Special report: Live from the Forest of Death), Sakura Haruno said that she wonders why he only has his Sharingan in only his left eye and I was wondering the same thing and I can’t wait to find out more about it in the coming seasons.

Things I Didn't Like About Naruto Season 1 (Episodes 1-26):

Sakura Haruno
Sakura Haruno, One Of The Main Protagonist In Naruto Created By Masashi Kishimoto

What I didn’t like in the first season was that they didn’t show Sakura involved in a lot of fight/action sequences. I understand that her character is not designed that way and that she has other departments/abilities that she is good in but I’d love to see her more in action.

One more thing, it’s not something I didn’t like it’s more of something that I noticed is that Kakashi and Zabuza both cover their faces. In most of the scenes when they were talking through their masks you can tell it by the movement of their jaw muscles. But in some scenes, this thing is missing. They are talking but you can’t tell because the muscles aren’t shown moving. I mean it’s a very minor mistake and it can happen when you are animating or working at such a level and on so many frames at the same time but it’s just something that I noticed. Although I haven’t watched a lot of anime series but I know that Japanese anime is known in the world for their exceptional animation and how they draw even the minute details of their character’s features down to every single detail. The thing that I am pointing out is not a big deal and it can happen to the best of the artists but it felt like a consistency missing to me which might not be there in the next seasons but again it’s not the big deal.

Conclusion:

Overall, it’s a great series although I just finished season 1 (Episodes 1-26) I am still loving it and enjoying it a lot. The story, characters, action, comedy everything is to my liking and all in all, it’s great entertainment. I can’t wait to watch the rest of the seasons and get to know what will happen next. I know I might be late to this party and people who are into anime must have watched this series a long ago but I’d still recommend you to re-watch it. And to the people who are into anime but haven’t watched it yet, please add it to your watchlist because you will greatly enjoy it. To all the people out there who do not watch anime, this is it. This is the series to begin your anime journey. You’ll love it! Believe it! I rate this season 4.5/5.
